Mom, Dad, Bucca, Haley and Dave all took a day trip diving offshore. As we were getting our gear prepared, our captain suited up to jump in before us to secure the decent line down to our +/- 100 ft destination: the Empire Mica. He asked jokingly -or so we thought- if we didn't mind him taking his spear gun along for the trip. About 20 minutes later a big cloud of bubbles signaled our dive master to pull up the line; that he had landed a fish...or four. The dive master proceeded to pull these monsters out of the water as we all watched, our jaws on the deck.
Fish for Thought: The Mica was a fuel ship on its way from Baytown Texas (ironic) to England -by way of Port St. Joe- scheduled to deliver kerosene when it was fatally interrupted by a German U-Boat. Pretty cool stuff!
