Sorry this post is so late, and we could have back dated it, but we wanted to give credit where credit is due. Daddy planned a superb First Mother's Day for us!! Mom said it was much better than last year (I don't know why Mom was so anxious for me on Mother's Day last year, we wouldn't have had nearly as much fun!?!).
First of all, it was all a surprise, and I'll be honest, mommy isn't the easiest person to surprise. So, Sunday morning we got in the car knowing only "Blayne will need a change of clothes" and "We could be gone all day so bring what you'll need". We ventured off toward Houston and ended up at the zoo! Mom has been dying to take me here but with our day job is just hadn't materialized until then. It was perfect- we saw all the animals and played in the petting zoo and the parks and had a wonderful morning. Later we drove to Rice Village and ate a sushi/brewery lunch on the patio overlooking the sights of the big city. It couldn't have been better. Our only regret is that despite taking a newly charged camera battery, it somehow went dead and we didn't get but a few pictures.
Since mommy and daddy don't really celebrate birthdays and don't exchange Christmas gifts with each other, we decided Mother's and Father's days should be our "big" celebration holidays where they do or get something extravagant for each other. So, in addition to the zoo, daddy got mommy some help keeping up with the cleaning twice a week. She and I have been working 12 hour days in the construction business so this will be a HUGE help for her. I do enjoy pushing the swiffer around but I'm not much good at putting things away, so I am glad someone else will be here to pull up the slack.
Thanks again Daddy for a wonderful day- we have big shoes to fill come June 15th. We'll see what we can dream up...
