First Day of "School"!

We will have to 'back-date' a bit here...and we're not going to actually 'back-date' if you will- it's just been too long. Ike, as you might imagine, turned the construction business upside down and all of a sudden we were launched into overdrive. To best accomodate everyone, Ms. Blayne started day-care Monday, September 20th. The first week was a good bit harder on Mommy than Blayne, but it was a transition no matter how you looked at it.

Since that first week, we've all learned to adjust, but it's still challenging. We have a lot on our plate at the moment as Barrier Island Homes, but hope this is a temporary situation while we deal with post-hurricane clean up.

More Ike...why not?

Forgive us for continuing with the Ike pics...we're still sorting all this out...we could go on forever, but I promise we won't...these were just sent to us in an e-mail from a friend who boated in the day after the storm.

This is the house we tried to buy back in 2005- it is on North Shore and is probably about 4' under water at this point...

Here is Portofino, yet again, but if you look, you can just barely see the tops of the ground floor windows.

Our beloved Okies is above...never again to re-open. They had been THE Clear Lake Shores liquor store for 48 years and have now decided to just let it go. Very sad, but lucky for all the CLS residents they have had several 50% off sales to boost our spririts and theirs.
Below is Grant and Becky's house, again, a good 4' under water the day after the storm.

I do promise we'll move on...there are some good new photos of Blayne that I haven't downloaded that I need to post.
A quick update: Things are picking up here a full 3 weeks after the storm...we had power restored mid-last week and have even been home (to PA) in the mean time (pics to come). We have yet to see phone or internet service, nor do we have any indication of when they might restore these luxuries (God bless satelite), but we are hoping soon.
Uncle Bill went to Austin to get his new home (and tow it back- so you can imagine) so we are soon to be short 3 house guests. That being said, when he gets all the kinks worked out, we will also unfortunately be out an air card and therefore have no internet. We really do hope all will be back to normal in the next few weeks, but if you don't here from us, you know why.
