Making room for baby

As you can see, we haven't done much with the baby's room just yet. As a matter of fact, if you look closely, you can see we haven't even taken the stickers off the windows...We did, however, manage to get all other furniture out of this room in order to start preparing.

Please, however, do not think for one second that this empty room implies that our little baby-to-be is deprived of anything. She may not have the full set up yet, but thanks to all those who love her, she is acquiring quite a stash of goodies!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Lots of hugs go out to everyone who has sent treats for both Blayne and me! We greatly appreciate them.

Alien

It is quite a strange phenomenon, being pregnant. We sit at night and watch what we assume are body parts float across my abdomen, and the whole thing is really very, very weird. Intriguing, but very weird.

I understand that at about 28 weeks, we are supposed to start keeping track of sleep/awake cycles to ensure that the baby is OK throughout the last trimester. This is harder than it sounds. She is definitely awake at 11am, 3pm and 3am. That is all I can seem to figure out. Some days she is up at 6am- others not till 9am. Then, as far as the evening goes, she seems to be active from the time I sit down (7pm-ish) till the time we go to bed (10pm-ish)...and after. We'll see if she takes on a more rigid schedule as time progresses.

28 weeks

Ah yes...another set of infamous belly shots. I'm not sure "huge" is a word I would use just yet, Aunt Sarah, but definitely looking more pregnant. You have to understand, although I blame the spurt in weight gain on little Blayne, that doesn't necessarily mean that it is all going right to the belly. Unfortunately, it is beginning to spread itself around a bit.

It only took 195 days...

Well, it finally happened. Last night an innocent bystander, a woman I had never met before, jumped out on a limb and officially popped the question. That being, of course "How many months are you?" At last...perhaps I don't just look "thick" or "fluffy" -as I have been called in my younger days- but actually pregnant.

And pregnant I should look, mind you, as WE (I refuse to take sole responsibility for this) are now putting on weight at lightening speed. Honestly, for the last two weeks or so, every day that I step on the scale (and I step on it pretty much every day) I am at least half a pound and sometimes a pound heavier. If baby and I keep this up for the remaining 85 days we are going to have a lot of explaining to do because, in my albeit limited knowledge of babies, I am pretty sure they don't weigh quite that much.

26 week check-up

We made it through another monthly check up! Everything looks good and pretty much on target. We did the usual routine, but one fun difference was the reaction of the baby to the doppler. I don't know if she detected the movement, the sound, or what, but when Dr. Johnson put the doppler microphone (or whatever it is) on my belly to listen to her heart beat it wasn't but a few seconds before she started pushing at it! He tried moving it, but she just kept on pushing against it, no matter the location. I have a feeling that come May, we are going to have our hands full!

It's fun little moments like these when reality hits you, even if we do have several weeks to go.
