Family Traditions Kneaded

Ready...

Set...
Knead!

My momma and my Zara used to make bread every Thanksgiving. In the last few years, of course, we have sacrificed the proximity but still maintained the tradition of at least the baking of the bread. Momma says she always remembers the best part is when the dough has risen and you get to punch it down with your fists. So, this year while momma was doing to bread-makin', she thought this would be an ideal part of the meal for me to help!
And...she was right! What fun to stick your hands in that sticky stuff and feel it melt back down into a little ball.
Not to mention that it was edible! Yummy!

Favorite Holiday

Seriously? You've got to be kidding me. A holiday based on eating? Sign me up.

If I don't look totally thrilled in these pictures, it is not because I wasn't having the time of my life eating turkey, and stuffing, and cranberry sauce, and sweet potatoes, and regular potatoes, and more stuffing, and more turkey...you get the idea, no...it is because of all the stories I have heard- a short sleeve dress was never mentioned. I had planned on finding lots of warm over-sized clothes so I could eat and eat and eat and never worry about my dress being too short because of my growing belly. But, before I knew it, it was 85 degrees and I was stuffed into a little girl dress---- seriously, not happening. I have work to do. Someone has to eat those leftovers- turn on the AC and find me some sweat pants!

Bagels, all better

Surely you can see the crocodile tear...for what? Who knows...

Make better? Bagel. What else? Doesn't every child have an Einstein obsession?

Of course, it would be nice if ours liked the scientist and not just the baker, but we'll take what we can get...

Either way, I'm awefully cute!

We're going to take advantage here and work in a little 18 month update as well.

First, let us apoligize, we realize as much as you do that this once a month post is absolutely unacceptable, and we're sorry. Life has been in fast forward lately, and, to be quite honest, we are still playing catch up. In any case, here is what is happening in the life of Ms. Blayne at a grand year and a half:

Let's see (enter Blayne)- I am busy as usual, no change there. I play non-stop and particularly enjoy putting things in and taking things out of anything I can get my hands on (watch your wallets here, people). I have been attending daycare now for almost 3 months and have adjusted well. I could care less when mommy leaves me in the morning, but you'd never know it based on how utterly excited I am in the afternoon when she picks me up. I even know our cars and have been seen darting across the playground when I see her coming. I am enjoying the new 'school' based activities and making new friends. My vocabulary is slowly increasing as well as, I now say shoes, ball, no more, book, and agua (my only Spanish word despite all of mommy's efforts). I respond to many different 'commands' in both languages though, so comprehension on a bilingual level is definitly there and increasing as well. Even daddy is learning ;-)

At 18 months I am running, laughing, hugging, kissing and talking up a storm (whether or not you can understand me is your problem). Life is good.

Treat or Treat

Seriously though, who needs a bucket when you have cheeks like these?

Monkey Business

As Halloween got closer and closer I had to decide what I was going to be this year. Since I don't talk much, mommy and daddy had to assist here a bit, and well, they figured- why not go with my one love- my favorite food and pretty much my only word- BANANA? Mommy was then flipping though a Pottery Barn Kids magazine and saw that -amazingly- someone else must have thought of the idea first because there was the perfect banana costume, already made! My Aunt Steph bought it for me and brought it home, all with high hopes of me loving it. Not quite. It was a bit overwhelming, so we had to reconsider. After some thought, we figured, if I can't be a banana, the next best thing is to accessorize with one. Hence the monkey.

The monkey costume worked well, my pink Chuck Taylors the finishing touch.

A banana or two, some monkey juice, and off I went to monkey around!

Perfect Timing

Welcome Kennedy Louise!
September 27, 2008

Ms. Kennedy's early arrival was perfect timing for our trip up north for Zara's wedding. We had dinner with Aunt Quinny and Uncle Dave on Friday night and I told her, I said "Now Kennedy, this is your last chance to meet me until Christmas" and sure enough- I guess she just decided she didn't want to wait that long. Of course, who could blame her?

Mommy and Daddy both got a chance to visit with Kennedy as well. They tried to make me keep my distance, and I did for the most part, but I snuk in real quick while daddy wasn't paying attention and mommy snapped one of our first photos together.

I know I wasn't supposed to get too close, but I wanted to fill her in on the ninth wonder of the world -the pacifier...right after the bjorn, of course.

The more the Mill-i-er

We, here at Miller central (the Texas division), have been doing our best to collectivly take over the world, and alas, we have converted yet another! Zara officially became a Miller on September 28th when she married Shane Miller.

Needless to say, the day may not have been about me, but please don't think I wasn't at the center of attention!

Congratulations Zara and Shane!
We are all so happy for you. We had a wonderful trip and enjoyed being part of the party...apparently -as long as you don't wipe your mouth- you can have your cake and eat it too!
