10 Weeks

Deny a request? Me? Never! As requested, the saga continues...last week Sr. Piña and I decided to expand our relationship beyond the confines of the activity mat. After spending several weeks on the mat with neighboring monkeys and seals, we thought a vacation would be in our best interest, so we packed our things and ventured north to the couch country.

Our little get away, however, didn't turn out to be all perfect in paradise. You see, once unhooked from the safe harbour of the activity mat, I realized that I could put Sr. Piña's clasp in my mouth and chew (or as much as one can without teeth).

Luckily, my Piña is a very good sport, always smiling, and he let me chew on him despite the pain he was surely enduring.

Today I complete 10 weeks, although I am pretty sure we are supposed to be counting in months now...I figure we'll keep up the weekly reports until we hit 12 weeks (approx. 3 months) and go monthly from there. We'll do the stats monthly too starting again at 3 mo...that way you'll see some changes.

As far as any changes from last week go, I have been working on my napping (mainly momma's doing) and I have also started drinking some formula. I still like the boob juice best, but everyday last week I was really fussy in the afternoon and one day after momma ran out of her juice she decided to see if I was still hungry. Well 3 minutes and 4.5 ounces of formula later, we realized there was a problem. So, mom has started supplementing my PM feedings with a few ounces of formula. Meanwhile she is taking lots of herbal supplements, hydrating like crazy, and drinking special tea. It is always the tea...and if you know my mom, you probably know she hates tea! Oh well. Anything for me, right?

Newsflash: Parenting not so tough after all

Parenting 101: Teach your little one independence first and as quickly as two months you'll be amazed at how well she can support herself! Here, Blayne proves that at a mere 9 weeks she is able to not only extract her mother's milk, but also put it in a bottle, warm it up and miraculously feed it to herself!

In just a few short weeks, you too can be sitting watching TV having a glass of wine while your infant takes care of herself! Just send $19.99 to the Miller residence and we'll send you everything you need to get your little bundle of joy independent in no time.

Note: (If this is daddy's idea of parenting, then this is momma's idea of working ;-)

Play Date!

If you have seen the Tostitos commercial, you know pretty much how this went...the babies slept and the moms played!

From left to right mom's friends are Tammy, Bianca, Amy (down low) and Jacklin. My friends left to right are Josh, Bryant Scott, Mia (down with Amy), me (with Aunt Jacklin), Elizabeth and Emma. In a few short months, we will be great friends (you know, once we can move a little better). We all had lots of fun, I know my mom really enjoyed all the company!

Aunt Jacklin was kind enough to snap a quick picture of momma and me. We don't get too many of those, so we threw it up here!

The crib!

At long last, the crib has arrived! Daddy helped us go and get it on Monday after work. A big, huge thanks to our friends the Bailey's who lent it to us! Although I am loving my new sleeping arrangements, the face above is about right to accurately demonstrate my feelings for my new mobile...it is a bit frightening to have weird animals floating over my head at night...

A bit more rearranging and voila! We have the nursery all set up!

Here is the other angle, just to give you the whole feel. P.S.- If you look closely you can see that I was hangin' out on the changing pad while all this rearranging and picture taking was going on...this, like the mobile, I found less than amusing.

9 weeks

At only two months of age, I can lay in front of the mirror and look at myself for hours...my parents seem worried...they keep muttering something about 'if she does this for so long now...what will it be like when she's 14?' I don't know what all the fuss is about, I mean let's be real- I am pretty adorable- would you be looking at me on this blog if I wasn't? ;-)

I am smiling often now- and as an actual reaction to people, noises and finally, the Portuguese. These muppet-like-animals have been following me around for weeks, but I just started to really notice them. I also enjoy having conversations with myself (yes, in the mirror), my parents, the pineapple man, the puppies, or anyone or anything that will listen. Only the pineapple man, however, seems to truly understand me...

We'll start some weekly running stats: 9 weeks

Height/Length: 22 inches
Weight: approx. 11lbs.
Head Circumference: 14.5 inches
Clothing Size: 3 months
Shoe Size: Ha!
Favorite Activity: Looking at myself; swimming/baths; eating
Least Favorite Activity: Napping
New Skills: I am currently mastering the old ones, nothing new at the moment
Favorite Drink: Beer...er, I mean milk...
Favorite Food: None yet, but I can hardly wait to get my hands on some cheerios
Misc: Nothing terribly interesting we can think of today, but please do add comments if there is another category you would like us to add! :-)

Flower Power

I think my Aunt Tammy tricked me by filling this daisy with tryptophine or something of the sort because it made me so sleepy that I decided to take a 2 hour afternoon nap- so unlike me! My momma was so pleased, she got the camera to capture the moment. Thank you so much Aunt Tam for the adorable outfit and the 2 hours of free time!

Even though I hate naps, I look pretty cute when I'm sleepin'!

Headstrong

Here I am holdin' up my head! Of course, who wouldn't to get a glimpse of that beautiful baby in the mirror? Oh, and you can also see that my love affair with the pineapple man continues...dad doesn't seem too threatened by this particular gentleman caller...I'm breaking him in slowly ;-)

Hands

Did you know that these fabulous little attachments can hold things? They are amazing- I am so glad I finally found them!

8 week update

A little late, but here I am at 8 weeks! I have been keeping my mom extremely busy, hence the lack of blog posts. I went for my vaccinations on Monday and did surprisingly well. I cried at the moment of impact, but by the time we reached the check-out counter, I had decided there are worse things in life. My parents kept me pumped up on Tylenol for the rest of the day, and all in all it was not as bad as we had all imagined. We also got new stats this week: 10lbs 12oz and 22 inches. That puts me in the 55th percentile for weight and the 40th for height. My dad says that makes me short and fat...it's a good thing that mom already explained to me how we just have to ignore him from time to time ;-)

I have decided not only that these upper appendages do belong to me, but that they are simply DELICIOUS! To my bag of tricks I have added sucking on my hands (loudly and often), drooling (if you look close you can see how wet my face is), tiny bubbles (I make these particularly when I'm hungry), cooing and other noises (even the mean ones are a huge improvement from sheer screams), gurgling and snorting. Yes, snorting. I don't know where I get this...both of my parents swear they don't do it, but when I get upset and cry, it'll often be accompanied by a snort or two.

What else? I can also hold my head up at a 90 degree angle when on my belly. I have not yet mastered the roll-over (although neither has my brother Mulligan and he is way older than me) but we don't think it will be long. Just yesterday I entertained myself on my activity mat for about 20 minutes, which was a huge bonus for mom since I have completely given up my afternoon nap, and all in all at 8 weeks and counting I am a happy, healthy baby!

Enough about me...

My trip to NY was, of course, to celebrate my Aunt Quinny and Uncle Dave's wedding! We can't help but put a few shots of the big day up for everyone to see. It was an amazing day!! Congratulations again Aunt Quinn and (now legitimate) Uncle Dave!

New friends

Let's see...I met so many new people on my trip to Aunt Quinny's wedding. I met many more new friends than what my daddy took pictures of, but I will start posting what we've got here, and just add as I go...

I will start chronologically...at least as far as the trip went. Zara picked us up at BWI and took me directly to meet my Grandmimi...

With my Grandmimi was my Tia Tiff. They spent Friday night oogling and googling over me!

Come Saturday morning, we headed to Dover where I met my Aunt Quinn and soon to be Uncle Dave!

And, what is a trip to Dover without hitting some corn fields and riding on tractors??...that's where the Wizotsky's come in! We ran over Saturday morning to meet Aunt Sarah and Uncle Josh!

Later that day as we prepared to caravan to upstate New York I met my Grammy...

My uncle Don and Tedd (not pictured).

I met a few people in between, but later that week I finally met my Grandma Miller...

and none other than my name-sake, Grandpa -Blaine- Miller! Grandpa took good care of me- I am so proud to be named after him!

And last, but NEVER least, here I am with my Aunt Patti! My Aunt Patti, Barbie and Nancy fought for me but apparently Aunt Patti won...the camera doesn't lie, folks! Most everyone got a chance to hold me even though daddy didn't capture it all on film. I had such a wonderful time meeting all my family and friends and can't wait to see everyone again at Christmas!

7 weeks...

Well, we missed our 6 week update, but...I had very important business to attend to...my Aunt Quinny got married this past week so we've been out of town and too busy to be bloggin'. None the less, I want to update you on some of the things I have done in the past two weeks...let's start with my first airplane ride!
Come on now...you don't think I screamed the whole way, do you?
I was an angel! I ate on the way up, slept the duration of the flight and ate again on the way down. It is good we live just far enough away for a perfect 3 hour stretch between take-off and landing ;-)
I was a bit scared at first, but daddy kept me safe and we made it uneventfully to BWI in no time!
